Andrea Dykstra was a good friend of mine who died in 2007. She was a great inspiration to me throughout the time I knew her -- she was courageous, smart, and a whole lot of fun to be around. She loved every moment of her life, and she had many moments during her illness, that none of us would want to experience. After she died, I wanted to do something to honor her memory.

In 2008 I sought the help of a Life Coach for some personal issues. My coach helped me to work through some old thought patterns that I was hanging on to that were holding me back. After working with her, I felt that I could move forward in my life again.

I felt so much better after being coached, that I found myself wanting to make this opportunity available to other women. And I thought doing so would be a wonderful way to honor my friend. In June 2009, The Happy Woman store created the Andrea Dykstra Life Coaching Scholarship. We awarded our first scholarship in September of 2009 and plan to continue awarding them on an ongoing basis.

Beth Buelow is following her life's passion as a Certified Professional Coach, based in the Pacific Northwest and serving clients across the country. Her focus is supporting people as they recognize old stories that no longer reflect who they are and what they want. Through coaching and workshops, she helps people write a new story for themselves, one that represents their values, intentions and truth. In short, clients become the writer, producer, director and star of their own life story!

Beth's academic background is in music performance and arts administration. She spent 12 years working for various nonprofits in Wisconsin, Michigan and Washington, with responsibilities that included fundraising, marketing, public relations and grant making. In 2008, she began her coach training at inviteCHANGE (formerly the Academy for Coach Training) and successfully obtained her Certified Professional Coach credential in late 2009. Beth is a Living Your Vision® Licensed Facilitator and an active member of the Puget Sound Coaches Association and International Coach Federation.
